Our Story

A family trading house, built to move goods across borders.

Founded in 1985, Sethia Enterprises began as an importer — bringing textiles into India across Taiwan, Thailand, Bangladesh and Nepal. That trade built the relationships and the logistics backbone that became our distribution business across Eastern and North East India: automobile parts, lubricants, batteries and tyres for some of the world's best-known manufacturers.

In 1999 we entered coal trading, and over the decades since have supplied steel, cement, power, paper, food and brick-kiln industries — managing every link from mine to plant.

Today, from our base in Hailakandi, Assam, we operate across all three trade flows: we import coal, gypsum, edible oils and minerals into India; we distribute to industry across the region; and we export India-origin agro-commodities — Assam tea, spices, guar gum and psyllium — to buyers worldwide. Two families of commodities, one accountable partner, from source to destination.

Distribution heritage

In our distribution years we carried products from Tata, Bosch, BP, Castrol, CEAT, JK and Exide across the region — the discipline of handling branded inventory at scale still defines how we trade.

1985Founded. Began as importers of textiles across Taiwan, Thailand, Bangladesh & Nepal.

1999Commodity trading. Entered coal — the cornerstone of our minerals division.
